METAMORPHOSIS.jpg

“Metamorphosis” is a short film focusing on dissociation and creative underappreciation. It offers a glimpse into living in the third person, with our main protagonist's self-doubt and confidence for his craft manifesting as two separate entities. The inner selves are visual manifestations of the internal conflicts that frequently plague artists, embodying the constant struggle between ambition and freedom and the ever-present specter of self-doubt.

I wanted to portray the inner me with Metamorphosis. The psychological battles that many artists encounter, particularly the ones they have with themselves, with dissociation, self-doubt, and a lack of respect for creativity. Dissociation is frequently used as a coping mechanism when under stress, prolonged invalidation, or trauma. The perspective of artists under pressure may be themselves from the "outside," cutting off their ties with their genuine voice.

My goal was to demonstrate that silencing is not the source of healing or progress. but by recognizing and integrating these inner voices. into a well-rounded, imaginative person. The film was one of the most difficult tasks I've ever set myself, as my deadline was 3 weeks and 4 days from the starting point, and I ended up having no help shooting scenes. So it was me, a camera and a tripod with a really ambitious outcome. The zero experience in making something like this didnt help either. However when it was all said and done, I was both proud and surprised with what came out. It really ignited an interest in film making, so I will definetly make more projects like this one!

Only in harmony do we create"
